The prototype this year introduced artists and handymen from the Czech Republic and abroad. What's next year?

Festival of Arts, Science, Technology and Makers The prototype of the weekend was filled with Pavilion A of the Brno Exhibition Center and presented not only artists from the Czech Republic and abroad, but also makers and workshops across all spheres of DIY. Workshops and open workshops were devoted to lecture blocks and provided space for introducing their own projects. Under one roof, it was possible to see a light show, show interactive installations, listen to professional lectures or make an LED light and have a 3D portrait.

The festival was officially launched by the fashionable OUTVISIBLE performance, which featured six designers with collections of their own work reflecting contemporary "fashion fashion". Visitors could also watch at a regular interval in the main hall the light show, which was created under the baton of VISUALOVE and the video of Metropolia by Jakub Nepraš. Throughout the festival, it was possible to see and experience the interactive exhibition Prototype ART in various parts of Pavilion A, which was attended by dozens of artists from different spheres of art. Great interest was enjoyed by Adam Hruby's "Working Man" performance, installation of 3D Printers "Red Queen" or audiovisual installation "EXPLORER" of the Swiss Encor studio.

News visitors met within the framework of the Saturday and Sunday Prototype program MAKERS, the fair of all the doctors and technological enthusiasts. The open workshops FabLab Brno, HobbyLab or strojLAB from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the BUT were introduced. Other successful BUT projects were presented, such as Student Formula, Pneumobil and Chicken Wings BUT. The workshops were presented at the stands and visitors could try out how the 3D scanner and printer, lathe or CNC sewing machine works. The lectures included topics from modeling and MatérioO materials library to copyright. Trends in materials for 3D printing were presented by Josef Doleček, the founder and CEO of Fillamentum, which is one of the top 5 manufacturers of 3D printing strings in the world in terms of quality and innovation.

"The goal of the Prototype for the future is to create a platform that will work all year round. In the form of smaller events taking place around the city, lectures or workshops, we would like to revive Brno's public events and end it at the end of the year with one big event. We want to reach the general public and create a place from the center of Brno where audiovisual and lighting installations can be presented, "said Jan Machát and Michal Okleštěk, co-ordinators of the festival, according to which cooperation with other institutions, universities and companies can bring to Brno not only new talents , but to create an event that visitors from other regions and abroad would visit.

Over three days, the festival was attended by more than 2,000 visitors not only from artistic and technological enthusiasts, but also from lay people and families with children. Families with children have used discounts to VIDA! Science Center, where the Bastlfest DIY Fair was held at the same time.

The next festival will take place in October 2019.
