▼ Red church and Denis Gardens

The light installation connects two prominent monuments that have defined the axis of Husova Street for over a century: the Red Church and the obelisk in Denis Gardens. A precisely aimed laser beam cuts through the space above the busy city boulevard, once again revealing the urban relationship deliberately embedded in Brno’s 19th-century layout. One end is marked by the neoclassical Peace Monument, erected in 1818, while the other end is dominated by the neo-Gothic Church of Jan Amos Comenius, constructed between 1863 and 1867. The line of light connecting them spans two historical periods, as well as different layers of meaning within the city.

Prototyp Crew is an artist collective formed around the Prototyp Festival. The collective works with light, sound, images and objects, using these materials to enter specific situations and alter the way they are perceived and interpreted. The collective’s projects stem from a desire to experiment with the potential of different surfaces and spaces to carry images, rhythms and meanings, ranging from façades and urban axes to temporary interventions in space. Rather than pursuing a unified visual identity, the collective focuses on the exploration process itself and transforming ideas into concrete experiences.
