Awaken Monsters
OUTPUT
Awaken Monsters are terrifying creatures that rule the world of the future. At a time when plastic and human waste is the most dangerous object in nature. Objects created by artists represent the legendary monsters we know from stories. They create them from waste materials from electrical installations and plastics and together they create upcycled objects. They are overgrown with moss, algae and coral, as if these mythical creatures have existed for hundreds of years.
A vision of the future/nature that is partly made up of the remnants of the technological achievements of the people who lived before them. The project is a response to the fact that nature will always survive, so if humanity wants to survive, it must adapt to it. The project is set to engage the contemporary viewer saturated with fine art through an interactive installation, playful form and strong visuals. They take the form of glow-in-the-dark monsters and become legendary beings of the future. They resemble and imitate nature in their appearance, behavior and sound/music.
Alex and Radovan create objects full of cables, lights, natural materials, which are supported by music and sound. They depict our nightmares where the world has turned into visions of a dystopian future. They created their own concept. It adheres to the basic idea: technology becomes as natural to us as nature itself. A world where nature must adapt to technology to survive. The idea is to show where we, as humanity, can find ourselves. At a time when technologies are becoming more natural to us, like living forms. The objects are inspired by nature, science fiction world, computer games, visualizations generated by neural networks (AI) and statistics about the climate crisis. He builds fictitious worlds and living creatures whose basic building material is human waste. Plastics, cables, technology… These creatures follow instinct and adapt to survive. We play gods, but nature will win.
