What is a modular synthesizer ?!
Have you ever seen a modular synthesizer? No? It looks like the control center of a spaceship from 1960s sci-fi. There are a lot of cables and control knobs and everything flashes strangely and in the utter chaos something makes sense and incredible sounds pour out. Modular synthesizers are the best means for exploring electronic sound territories and their complexity offers room for endless experiments. Using cables, individual functional segments of sound production such as oscillators, filters and phasers are connected in any way and even upside down. It is not only possible to use such an instrument to create amazing music, but it is also possible to just meditate with it and let yourself be surprised by the infinite sound possibilities. At the workshop, we will look at the basic principles of using such devices. The guide will be Václav Peloušek, chief developer in the Bastl Instruments group, which develops and manufactures these instruments and strives for wider education in our environment.
