Adsum Exp

Encor

As part of our ongoing work Adsum EXP embraces removal and concealment, creating space for the environment, the viewer, and their imagination to flourish. By distancing itself from a culture of excess, the work invites contemplation through innovative techniques. Electrochromic liquid crystal films, combined with video mapping, explore the interplay of light, color, and perception—marking a pioneering use of these materials. Minimal power consumption and a balance of advanced and lo-fi elements further underscore its thoughtful approach to sensory experience.

Founded in 2016 by Swiss audiovisual artists Mirko Eremita, David Houncheringer, Manuel Oberholzer, and Valerio Spoletini, Encor Studio blends technology with lo-fi materials to create immersive, perception-shifting works. Their projects explore the symbolic interplay of light, sound, and space, making hidden information palpable and offering fresh perspectives on an ever-evolving world.

Through kinetic sculptures, installations, and sound visualizations, the studio crafts experiences that distort reality and challenge perception. By embracing negative space as a design principle, Encor Studio creates works that emphasize absence as much as presence, inviting audiences to engage with the voids as active components of the narrative. Mirrors, creative coding, and natural elements shape layered, visceral snapshots of the human condition. Recently, the studio has adopted a reductionist approach, aligning with the ethos of Subtractive—favoring simplicity, in situ materials, and energy efficiency, allowing both the environment and the interplay of space and absence to take center stage.
